1. Will my child get preference for the charter if he is in the preschool?

All preschool students eligible for Kindergarten in the upcoming year are automatically added to our charter school waiting list for that year. There is no need to fill out another application. However, we cannot guarantee entry if applications exceed capacity. Everyone, except for siblings of currently enrolled charter students and staff children must take place in a lottery. Our 30-day, open enrollment period for the charter school is held in February. The lottery is held immediately after this period. Once the student is accepted into the charter school, he/she does not have to re-apply for succeeding grades.

2. What are your policies on discipline?

Our staff uses positive discipline and redirecting children to avoid a negative behavior. If a child is biting or hitting on a regular basis, we may ask the child to stay home for a day and in order that the family can address the behavior and impose consequences. If biting or hitting continues, the child will be asked to leave the program until such time that the behavior stops. We may impose 1/2 days as a way to help the child reduce his/her need to engage in that behavior. We also have time outs that are used to calm a child down. The child may also be asked to work alone for a while or be separated from the group until he/she gets under control.

3. Do your provide lunches or snacks?

We ask parents to rotate bringing snacks on a monthly schedule. We do not provide lunch or other meals at the preschool level.
