IVMS Early Childhood

Unlike its sister schools, our early childhood programs are not tuition free. However, we have tried to keep our tuition as reasonable as possible while still providing a quality program for our students. This year, the State of Florida has implemented a program for four year-olds called Voluntary Pre-K. We are participating in this program in order to give the families of our youngest students the benefit of reduced tuition for the pre-K year. You will find more information about participating in VPK on our website under the admissions page.

We do not view our early childhood programs as preschool or daycare. The children are exposed to all subject areas that older students are, but at an age-appropriate level. Many of our kindergarten students who have gone through our early childhood program can read, write, and perform basic math operations that can even include multiplication and division.

You will find similar Montessori materials in an early childhood classroom as you will in an elementary classroom. Dr. Montessori designed her curriculum like a spiral rather than a straight line. Students learn concepts using materials throughout upper elementary, but the lessons presented become more sophisticated.

Eventually, the students graduate from needing to manipulate materials to the ability to perform in the abstract using paper and pencil. It is for these students we have designed our middle school program.

Thanks for your interest in our schools.
