Our dream
was to create an
affordable
Montessori school Our Venice location is beginning its 6th year as a school. We spent a year prior in the planning and construction phase. Our dream was to create an affordable Montessori school where enrollment was not limited by a family¹s ability to pay. There are only 10 Montessori Charter School in Florida and about 100 in the nation. We are proud to offer this choice for local residents. In August 2001, IVMS opened with 175 elementary school students in seven classrooms. Our early childhood program opened with approximately 35 students. The previous year, we purchased land and built a school. People said it could not be done, but with a great deal of parent, staff, and community support, here we are!! Both elementary
and middle school programs are free public schools. There is no tuition
once a child qualifies for kindergarten (age 5 on or before September
1st of the current school year). We do charge for field trips and we ask
for a small donation for materials. We do not send home expensive lists
of school supplies to buy. Families must show proof of residency in Sarasota,
Manatee, and Charlotte counties.

our families such continuity and affordability At its capacity, our elementary program will reach 340 students. Beginning in 2006, we added a middle school program to our campus. The capacity for our middle school is 88 students with four classrooms. Now a child can enter our early childhood program at three years old and graduate at 8th grade, while paying tuition for only two years. What a deal! We are proud to offer our families such continuity and affordability. Dr. Maria Montessori would be proud too. We are deeply in her debt for such wonderful vision of what education can be.
