Myrna Bonhomme

    Myrna Bonhomme has been teaching at IVMS since 2002. Myrna resided in Paris for more than a decade before landing in Florida in 2000. She has more than twelve years of teaching experience as a teacher and as a Montessori educator in early childhood, lower elementary, as well as in upper elementary. Myrna has experience in teaching art and french. She also has experience in teaching English as a foreign language. She brings with her an enriched background in art, architecture, and in both Lebanese and French culture. Myrna holds professional Florida teaching certificates in both pre-K-3 and french K-12 as well as a Florida certificate in art K-12.

    Myrna completed a master’s degree in elementary education with a concentration in Montessori education from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. She has BA degrees from the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne in both art history and “arts plastiques”. She also has a BA in fine arts from the Lebanese- American University of Beirut.

    Myrna received her AMI 3- 6 primary directress diploma from the “Institut Supérieur Maria Montessori” in Paris, and has earned the elementary training I education from Seacoast Center for Montessori Education, New Hampshire. She is a member of both the Association Montessori International (AMI) and American Montessori Society (AMS).

    Myrna is trilingual (French, Lebanese, and English). She is active with the Sarasota Sister City committee, promoting relations between Sarasota and its sister city Perpignan, France. Myrna tutors French (elementary and middle school level) as part of the after care program here at Island Village. Myrna and her husband are in the process of adopting.
